When you see Google chrome's homepage for India - you can find a screenshot beside showing some interface of YouTube or any other product of Google. but on chrome's homepage for Brazil you can find Orkut's new conversational interface which looks similar like Facebook , friend feed and twitter.

Google decided to use some ideas from services like Twitter, FriendFeed, Facebook and make it easy to post messages and to see the messages posted by your friends.
orkut has never been an innovative service: many of its features were copied from other social networks. orkut's popularity in Brazil and India is probably the only reason why Google didn't discontinue the service.
